When Sam woke, it was in a bed that wasn't his own and without his dad or brother in sight... needless to say, there was a lot of freaking out. He fumbled out of bed and went looking through the apartment he was in... only to find a dog and not much else. Nothing that would tell him where he was anyway or where Dad or Dean was, when they'd be back.

He even got desperate enough to grab the phone and try their numbers... only to find them no longer in use which was just... even weirder. Now he was even more worried.

Sam smiled when Ozzy came up to him, giving him those looks. He was all too willing to oblige him those scratches. He smiled a little wider, laughing under his breath when the puppy leaned up to lick at his chin.

He slouched a bit more, getting himself comfortable on the cushions. It was nice, really... it had been a really good day.

Dean snickered and watched Ozzy soak up the attention. Little bum knew exactly how to get what he wanted from Sam at any size. Dean reached over and scratched at Ozzy's neck. "Too bad I don't believe in reincarnation. I'd wanna come back as this guy. He's got it made."

That earned another laugh. "You'd probably make a good dog, dude." He looked over, looking him over. "Bet you'd come back as one of those little dogs people like to dress up all the time..."

Though Dean'd probably like that if he got to be carried around by a cute girl or something all day.

"That's just mean, Sam. I'd be a big, butch dog. Like a Rottweiler or something." He reached over and flicked Sam's ear lightly. "You'd be a foofy poodle or something."

"But I grow up bigger than you, dude." He pulled a face, swatting at Dean's hand lightly. "Would not! I'd be something cool."

"Fine, so you'll be a really tall poodle." He grinned at the face Sam made and reached out to ruffle his hair, too. Ozzy took advantage of Sam's distraction to lean up and lick his face enthusiastically.

Sam let out a noise--he was getting it from both ends! Dean was messing his hair and Ozzy was licking his face... totally not fair! "H-hey." He ducked away from Dean and reached up to try and calm Ozzy down, laughing quietly. "You're such a jerk, Dean."

As soon as Ozzy calmed down, he shifted over closer to Dean, leaning against him a little, one hand going up to try and smooth his hand back down. "I see you never grow out of being annoying."

"Nah, I'm delightful." He sat back and chuckled, watching Sam struggle with the excited puppy. When Sam leaned into him, he slung an arm around his shoulders and grinned. "It's not my fault you don't have a sense of humor, Sammy. It's not yours, either. Dad and I had it surgically removed when you were little. You had to have your tonsils out, so we went ahead and got the two for one deal." He gave his brother a totally innocent look.

"If Dad and you had it removed, then it's your fault too." He rolled his eyes and settled in against Dean, still idly petting Ozzy. His lips had quirked up a little though even though he was trying hard not to crack a smile.

"Not me, dude. I'm perfectly innocent. Spotless, even." He grinned when he saw Sam's lips twitch. He squeezed his brother's shoulders and rested his head against the top of Sam's.

"Nothing about you is innocent, Dean, at all." He settled in, getting comfortable with Dean leaning against him like that.

"How can you say that, Sammy? I'm hurt!" He reached up and thumped Sam's ear lightly. "I'm like Mother Theresa, but better looking."

"Since when, Dean?" He made a face and elbowed Dean in the side lightly. "Mother Theresa didn't juggle multiple girlfriends when she was in school, I bet. Or lie or skip class or any of the other stuff you do. I bet she especially didn't drop her little brother off at lame kiddy places to go look for chicks."

His tone really didn't have much bite to it though. He'd had too good a day to really be all that worked up or peeved by anything.

Dean frowned at that last part. He hadn't thought about that in years. Man, he had been kind of a douchbag. As much as he resented having to always be on call, taking care of his little brother instead of dating, playing sports, or doing all those other teenage boy things... he knew Sam had never been any more thrilled by the situation.

Hindsight was a lot more clear when you got older.

He rested his cheek against Sam's hair and nodded. "Sorry about all the times I ditched you, Sammy. That was a dick move. I should have been a better brother."

Sam tipped his head back at that, eyebrows raised. He hadn't been prodding for an apology even if, yeah, he hated it when Dean dumped him off at stupid, kiddy restaurants with stupid clowns and bad food. Kind of got used to it, he guessed.

Hadn't ever expected that kind of apology for it, really. "It's okay, Dean... you're jerk, but you're not bad all the time." he shifted a little, tipping his head back against Dean. "Today was pretty great after all."

"Yeah? Had a good time?" He probably never had given Sam an apology like that. Not Sam at this age, anyway. Part of him felt like he owed it to Sam to make some things right while he could. He would never get another chance like this, most likely.

"Yeah, I did. Kind of wish I didn't have to go back... even if you are old." He flashed a teasing look up at the other.

"I'm not old, runt, I'm just well seasoned." He grinned back at his brother and shook his head. The kid could still make him smile quicker than anyone else. "But, yeah... I kinda wish you could stay, too."

But, as much as he loved his baby brother and would love to have the chance to repair some of the mistakes he made when Sam was growing up, he wanted his own Sam back.

"It's the same thing." He was grinning wider though, looking up at Dean. "Yeah? You don't mind your 'cousin' hanging around? Thought you'd complain about how it's cramping your style or something."

"Nah, I guess I could get used to your punk ass hanging around. I'd just have to hide you in a closet somewhere when I had friends over." He grinned playfully at Sam and ruffled his hair. He'd totally keep the kid if he could have both Sams. They'd figure out a way to explain stuff to him. Hopefully.

That would be a weird little family and a weird discussion and Sam would probably miss his Dean anyway, even if he could be kind of a jerk sometimes. He shifted a little away from that ruffling and huffed softly. "You wouldn't stick me in a closet!"

Well, Dean was pretty awesome. Whatever age he was. "Okay, maybe not a closet. We'd have to move into a place with a nice basement. Or an attic."

He made a face at that. Totally not cool! Dean was still a jerk. "Then I'll just get out and tell whatever girlfriend you've brought over how you lock your 'cousin' up. You'll never get laid again."

Dean loved messing with Sam. He made it so easy! "Naah. Any girl I date would be very understanding about things like that. I'd just tell her you had rabies or something..."

He rolled his eyes at that. Yeah, he was totally as annoying as he was in his own time. "You're a jerk, Dean."
