When Sam woke, it was in a bed that wasn't his own and without his dad or brother in sight... needless to say, there was a lot of freaking out. He fumbled out of bed and went looking through the apartment he was in... only to find a dog and not much else. Nothing that would tell him where he was anyway or where Dad or Dean was, when they'd be back.

He even got desperate enough to grab the phone and try their numbers... only to find them no longer in use which was just... even weirder. Now he was even more worried.

"I don't care..." He looked over the map distractedly, straying a little closer to Dean. "It all looks kinda cool, Dean. I want to see it all anyway."

"Okay. Guess we'll start at the beginning and just work our way through." Sam's distraction worried him. He didn't know what was going on in that big brain of his. Whatever it was, it didn't seem to be doing him any good for his enjoyment of the trip.

Dean sighed a little and nudged him with his elbow. "Shark tunnel?"

At the nudge, Sam's eyes darted back up to Dean's and he shook his head, a little smile tugging at his lips. "Huh? You want to go?"

"Why not? Sharks are awesome. That's why they have a whole week on Discovery." That alone was worth the monthly cable bill. He led the way to the tunnel, grinning a little at the swarm of wide-eyed kids entering ahead of them. Whoever came up with this idea was a genius. A giant, glass tube with sharks and rays swimming all around you? Awesome.

"You're so weird, Dean." He rolled his eyes, smirking affectionately. Okay, he did have to admit it was kinda cool to see, and Sam might actually be joining the ranks of impressed kids when they got in.

Didn't mean Dean's obsession with shark week wasn't geeky in its own way though.

Dean didn't mind being weird. Been weird all his life. He slung an arm around Sam's shoulders and wandered slowly down the tunnel, watching the sharks and other things swimming around them. "Got a favorite shark, dude?"

"I'm sure you've got a bunch." He flashed a teasing look, reaching up to put a hand against Dean's wrist as long as he had his arm around his shoulder. "Hm... Hammerheads look neat, I guess."

Dean grinned back at Sam's teasing look. Hey, there were worse things he could be a dork about. Sharks were cool! "I do, as a matter of fact, and hammerheads are right up at the top. So are tiger sharks, great whites, and those crazy dudes that look like they've got chainsaws on their noses."

"You really know a lot of sharks..." He pulled away from Dean for a moment, just around at what was swimming around them with interest, occasionally reaching back to tug at Dean's sleeve and point out whatever really caught his interest.

Okay, so the sharks were pretty cool.

Dean was happy to follow those tugs here and there. He was having a good time and it was nice to spend some uncomplicated time with his little bro. Plus, it was something he'd actually wanted to do anyway, so it worked out great. He was a little disappointed to reach the end of the tunnel, but there were other things to see. "Not bad so far, huh?"

"Nah, it's interesting." Sam paused to look back at Dean, expression bright. Maybe he'd been pretty weirded out earlier, but right now? He was having fun. Anytime he got to hang out with Dean was pretty cool usually, even if it was older Dean. Maybe he was having even more fun seeing the guy his brother was going to grow into.

Wasn't really disappointed either. "You having fun, Dean?"

"Yeah, totally. Too bad I didn't bring a camera this time. I could'a had a great pic of that one shark swimming around trying to figure out how to get you through the glass." He grinned and winked. Actually, it would just be cool to have more pictures of Sam at this age. They had so few the first time around and most of them weren't of Sam this happy.

"C'mon. Let's hit the fishy petting zoo." The petting tank had tiny rays swimming around along with crabs, sea snails, and other non-dangerous critters to touch. So what if it was a kid's exhibit? Dean was a kid at heart!

"How do you know it's not trying to eat you? You'd be the bigger meal, Dean." Sam didn't usually have a reason to be very happy... not with the way they lived. Right now though, even if it was weird, the time he had here had been nice so far.

He grinned a little, not teasing though he totally could have. Dean wanted to go pet the fish...

There was nothing wrong with petting the fish! That's what they were there for!

Dean led the way to the petting tank and entertained himself playing with the little rays swimming around and traumatizing the critters crawling on the bottom. He nudged Sam with his elbow and pointed to a sea snail on the glass wall of the tank. "Hey, Sammy... I dare ya to eat it."

Sam pulled a face. "Dude, no way... gross."

His brother was still immature, apparently. Who dared someone to eat something like that? "Why would I even want to?"

He laughed at the reaction. Big brothers dared little brothers to eat things like that! That's who.

"Because then you'd be a real bad ass." He nodded sagely. "Sam Winchester: Snail Destroyer."

"That's not bad ass, Dean, it's stupid. Only five year olds would be impressed." He snorted and smiled despite himself though, nudging at Dean. "Come on, what's next?"

"Uhhh..." He held up the aquarium guide and peered over it. "There's a sea otter exhibit. There's also a marine fossil one. All kinds of things." He handed the paper over to Sam. "What looks good?"

"Let's see the sea otter one first. We'll make our way around to the others after." He really kind of hoped he'd remember this whenever he got... sent back. Or whatever. This was so cool... everything so far had been. Maybe the next few years of high school wouldn't be so terrible if he knew he'd actually get out, be normal.

"Sounds good." Dean glanced at the map and headed in the direction of the otter tank, making sure to keep Sam close as he did. The last thing they needed was to get Sam lost in Savannah somewhere. He'd never forgive himself if he let something happen to his little brother.

Sam was pretty good about staying close anyway. He wasn't in a hurry to get separated from Dean, even if he wasn't all that worried about getting lost. He strayed close though, looking here and there as they walked... though he did rush ahead a little bit when they reached the otters to get a look at them.

Dean watched him run ahead and grinned. It was nice to see his so serious brother having fun doing kid things for a change. He trailed after Sam and stopped in front of the big glass wall to watch the otters swimming and chasing each other around their tank. Cute little bastards.

Sam didn't usually get to do stuff like this, do stuff normal kids got to do, so he was a little excited by it all. When Dean got there, he scooted in close. They were cute... it was hard not to smile at them, especially the ones chasing each other. "Look at those, Dean."

He was half-expecting to hear something about him being a girl, but whatever. Dean had insisted they go pet fish! He didn't have room to tease.

No teasing! Dean was having a good time, too. He was glad Sam was happy. The kid deserved a break. "The first guy stole the other guy's pie," he decided. "First one better run fast. Pie's no joking matter."

He laughed, looking up at Dean. "Is everything about pie with you, Dean?"
