When Sam woke, it was in a bed that wasn't his own and without his dad or brother in sight... needless to say, there was a lot of freaking out. He fumbled out of bed and went looking through the apartment he was in... only to find a dog and not much else. Nothing that would tell him where he was anyway or where Dad or Dean was, when they'd be back.

He even got desperate enough to grab the phone and try their numbers... only to find them no longer in use which was just... even weirder. Now he was even more worried.

"No, Sammy. You're not. This isn't your fault." He reached over and squeezed Sam's shoulder gently. Hell, he still didn't know what had even happened. "Don't worry about it, okay? I promise it'll be okay."

He nodded at that, managing a smile. "Alright, if you say so, dude."

Hopefully, this wouldn't last too long, cause his older self or whatever too many problems.

"I swear it. I'm gonna take care of you. Both yous." He smiled and turned his attention to his breakfast. Wasn't sure how he was going to keep that promise, but he would figure it out.

He smiled a little bit at that reassurance, nodding. "I know you will, Dean..."

His brother did usually always try to take care of him after all. Didn't mean he wasn't worried or didn't have a billion questions popping up the more he was around here.

"So, what are we gonna do today?"

"Dunno. Anything you wanna do?" He looked over at Sam curiously. Couldn't remember if Sam at this age ever had much fun, downtime. He should try to make it special if he could.

"Is there an arcade around?" Preferably, one without clowns and bad food. With training, school, and research, it was kind of hard at this age to have much of anything like 'fun'. That went kind of out of the window with a social life that went beyond his brother and whatever temporary friendships he'd be leaving behind as quick as he'd made them.

"Huh. Dunno. I never looked. We'll see if we can find one." He smiled. That could be fun. How long had it been since he and Sam did something goofy like that together? And he'd missed so many opportunities for that sort of thing when Sam was this age. "You know that I will utterly destroy you at Skee-ball, right?"

"You know I've got a lot of practice in at Plucky's, right? No way you'll win, dude." He returned the smile though. Be nice to hang out with Dean and just have fun. "Bet you anything I'll win."

"We'll see," Dean intoned in a mock-menacing tone and then winked. Yeah, Sam would probably win, but it was fun to banter about it.

After breakfast was over, Dean cleared the table and got to work cleaning up the kitchen. He'd gotten to the point where a messy kitchen annoyed him. Domesticity had taken over his brain.

"We'll grab the laptop and find us an arcade in a few minutes." Dean glanced over his shoulder at him. Hmm. "You can grab a shower if you want. I might have to give you some of my clothes to wear until I can get those washed. We might need to swing by a store and grab you another couple shirts and stuff..."

"Okay." He slipped to his feet and headed for the bathroom. He was sure he was going to look stupid borrowing Dean's clothes, but he was kinda right... he'd need a change. "Dean, can you set me out some clothes?"

"Sure, Sammy. Be right there." Dean dried off his hands and followed his brother into the bedroom. He rooted around in his clothes for the smallest things he owned: a pair of jeans that were too small on him and a t-shirt. Hopefully they wouldn't be too awful until they could get Sam some clothes of his own.

"Here," he handed them to Sam. "Toss yours out when you get them off and I'll throw them in the washer."

He nodded and headed into the bathroom, stripping out of his clothes and tossing them outside like he was told to before he went to slip into the shower. Considering he'd slept in those clothes, it'd be nice to wash up a little and change into something fresh.

Though when he did emerge from the bathroom, the clothes were definitely baggy and too long on him. He huffed softly, pausing to try and roll up his jeans a little. "I think I'll need some clothes... unless I really start growing like overnight, Dean."

"You've done it before, but I don't think we should bank on it." Dean had thrown Sam's clothes into the washer while he was in the shower. It was really nice to have a washer in the apartment, even if it was tiny. He kind of hated laundromats.

He turned the washer on and grabbed the Impala keys. "C'mon, we'll grab you some clothes before we head to the arcade. I looked one up while you were in the shower."

"Okay, Dean." He followed Dean close by, looking up at him curiously. "Do I get taller than you soon? I'm still shorter..." And even shorter right now, compared to his brother as an adult.

"I hope it's soon anyway..."

"Not too much longer. Year or two." Dean patted his shoulder. "Don't worry, Sasquatch. Soon you'll grow into that nickname."

He shook his head at that. He wasn't sure Sasquatch was better than any other name he had now, but... at least he did get taller. When they made it to the car, Sam went around to his side to slip in.

Dean climbed into the driver's seat and started the engine. He pulled out of the parking lot and headed toward the nearest department store. He couldn't make Sam walk around in his baggy old clothes all day. It always made him feel bad when Sam had to wear his cast offs growing up. Now, he could afford to get him some real clothes that fit.

Sam was pretty much used to hand-me-downs by now. He usually always got Dean's smaller clothes... and sometimes it wasn't so bad. Dean was cool after all and Sam was still young enough to feel a little bit cooler, himself, when he got something of Dean's that actually fit him well enough.

Other times, it was just pretty embarrassing to be wearing his brother's clothes that fit too baggy on him, but complaining about it hadn't worn Dad down too often.

When they got to the store, he couldn't help but grin a little... new clothes would be good and hopefully, he'd be here long enough that it wouldn't be a total waste.

It was fun to see Sam light up like that. He remembered how infrequently they got things like brand new clothes growing up, so he couldn't really blame him. Dean clapped him on the shoulder and guided him over to the right clothing section. "I'll grab a couple pairs of jeans for you to try on. You look for some shirts you like, okay?"

"Alright, thanks, Dean." He moved over to some racks to start looking, giving a thoughtful hum as he tried to decide between the shirts there. Nothing special... wasn't like Sam cared about flashy or anything. Just functional and in his size.

After sifting through a few stacks of kids jeans, Dean picked out a few pairs for Sam to try on. He remembered about what the kid's size was at this age, but he wanted Sam to try them on to be sure. Then he returned to where Sam was picking through the shirts. "Find anything you like?"

"Yeah, a few things." He looked at the jeans Dean had before taking them over to the dressing room to try the on. They looked about right and, thankfully, they were when he got inside to try them on.

Way better than Dean's hand-me-downs. His brother had gotten pretty tall himself apparently.

Once he was done, he stepped out. "Think we're done here, Dean."

"Alright." He took the ones that fit from Sam and draped them over one arm. The ones that didn't fit, he left on the rack to be put back. "C'mon. We'll pay and then stop somewhere with a bathroom for you to change before we hit the arcade."

Sam followed Dean while he paid for the clothes and outside to the car, climbing in and getting comfortable. "Thanks, Dean... you really didn't have to buy me anything, you know? Don't know how long I'm staying after all."

But he really did appreciate it.

"No sweat, dude. Besides, I can't have my little 'cousin' running around in clothes that don't fit. Cramping my style." He flashed Sam a playful grin and reached over to ruffle Sam's hair. It didn't matter how long Sam was there. He still wanted to take care of his brother.

Dean pulled into the parking lot of a fast food joint and parked near the door. "Grab what you wanna wear and change in their bathroom. I'm gonna grab some coffee. Want anything?"
