It took a few days to convince the hospital to release Dana... and Sam was half-convinced they just did it because she was being a pain in the ass. He couldn't blame them since she never took to being sick or injured well. They hit the road almost immediately after getting the prescriptions filled for some pain meds. He hated that Dana would basically have to suffer through the car drive until they were far enough away and safe to stop for awhile.
They pushed on and made it to some small little town though, far away from Palo Alto, Stanford, and hopefully any demons trailing them. Man, he did not miss the nasty, likely roach infested motels they used to stay in and like the one he was pulling into park at now.
Now they had to decide just... what they'd do for sleeping arrangements, he supposed. Jo had been pretty adament about not sharing a room, but it was safer if they did.

Jo looks over at him, and smiles a little more at the compliment. "Thanks. It's...different, but I'm glad ya like it."
She waits, before shifting to pop the DVD in the DVD player while she waits for him.

"Jo got back with the food. We were just about to stick in a movie to watch."

Shifting to sit up better, she swung her legs over the edge of the bed to push to stand up. Doc's said she had to move occasionally to keep her muscles from deteriorating or somethin'. Couldn't just lay in bed all day.
Making a soft noise at the initial strain against her middle, she shook off the slight pain and made her way over to where Sam was pulling out food. God, she was starving. "Yeah? You two have fun with that."

She sits quietly back on the bed, cross legged.

He hesitated a moment, looking her over. He hated being unsure around her, overthinking every touch when... that's never been a problem. Even before the sex was added to the equation. They really did need to talk about this stuff. Eventually.
For now, he just... leaned forward to give her a quick kiss to her temple. Gestures and looks were always easier between them. "See you in a bit, alright? Try and take it easy, Dana."

That pause of silence was making her...uncomfortable. And not in the 'my ribs are feeling all throby' kind of uncomfortable. Talking. Right. They did need to do that. Just..not now. Of course.
At the kiss, Dana didn't move, just watched him draw back and the press of his lips left her skin warm. "Hey, I'm a big girl Sam. I can take care of myself you know." She'd been doing it all her life. Huh, took care of herself, Sam, and even Dad most times. She'd never really wondered what it would be like to have someone want to take care of her.
Managing a small smile she scooped up her food and was heading back to sit on the bed, foreseeing a night of bad cable television and her finishing this burger in less than a minute.

His tone was lighter, teasing though. Wasn't sure if the kiss had been welcomed or not, but she hadn't pulled away, so... he'd take that as an okay sign.
He headed back to see Jo lying on the bed and arched a brow. "Thought we were gonna watch a movie and have some drinks..."

She hoped that wouldn't be any time soon though. She could take a lot, but any more damage to her body and she may as well just be dead.
Sighing once she was left alone, Dana glanced at her food and realized, startlingly, that she wasn't really hungry anymore. Grumbling she shoved everything back in the bag, crumpled it and tossed it on the bedside table, opting for scooping up the remote instead.

Not that she's particularly thrilled with the idea of the three of them sitting arm in arm. "And did ya show her I got...her a pie?"
no subject
He didn't think it'd be better if he was sitting in there enjoying the awkward silence with her or in here watching a movie... and it wasn't like they were separated by much anyway.
He paused at the question. "Ah, forgot about that... Wanna, uh, go hang out with her for awhile or what?"
He was fine with it, if that's what Jo wanted. "We could bring the drinks..."

Sighing as she flips through the channels endlessly, she's tempted to order porn just for the hell of it. At least the story plots in those proved to be amusing most times. And it would also be amusing if Sam walked in. ...well, back before they were all...iffy with each other. Maybe it would just be awkward this time.
no subject
That seems like a coping mechanism that seems to be going around.
no subject
"You're right." As awkward as it was to be around Dana right now, confusing as it was... they should probably keep an eye on her. And he needed to keep an eye on Jo too.

...though she did just chuck a pillow at the television. She had suddenly found herself extremely frustrated and was throwing before she knew what she was doing. Not that it really did any damage, just bounced off the screen and flopped to the ground.
no subject
"Ready then?" she asks, shifting her weight as she slowly moves to the door.
no subject
"Dude, what did the TV ever do to you?"

"You got your pie too, you know."

Dana bit the inside of her cheek, eyes still watching the two of them as they moved about the room. She had been fully prepared for a night by herself on this bed. Now she was just thrown off.
When Sam smiled at her it made that old familiar feeling ripple through her and she blinked it away, instead focusing on his words. "There's pie?"
no subject
She just doesn't know where she should sit. She shifts her weight. "I'll cut some pie," she says, moving to it, and starting to cut it.

Dana and not eating... now that was usually a sign of trouble. She always had a healthy appetite, especially when it came to food she enjoyed.
