It took a few days to convince the hospital to release Dana... and Sam was half-convinced they just did it because she was being a pain in the ass. He couldn't blame them since she never took to being sick or injured well. They hit the road almost immediately after getting the prescriptions filled for some pain meds. He hated that Dana would basically have to suffer through the car drive until they were far enough away and safe to stop for awhile.
They pushed on and made it to some small little town though, far away from Palo Alto, Stanford, and hopefully any demons trailing them. Man, he did not miss the nasty, likely roach infested motels they used to stay in and like the one he was pulling into park at now.
Now they had to decide just... what they'd do for sleeping arrangements, he supposed. Jo had been pretty adament about not sharing a room, but it was safer if they did.

He was better than her at least.
"Yeah..." She sighed. Tracking down answers meant more trouble though, she was sure.

She needs a drink.
Or twenty.

There was so much crap between them right now and yeah, it was the least of their worries when they had demons on their asses, it was hard to not think about. What he wanted to do was go and get in Dana's bed because he always rested better with her close by and God, he'd give anything for some proper sleep right now...
But then there was the fact that she'd- gone and slept with someone else, hadn't told him. He'd just trusted her... Didn't know why she'd done it, if it was because he wasn't... enough in some way or she just really couldn't commit to these kinds of relationships.
And he couldn't even be pissed off at Jo over it, not when she was hurt. The jealousy he'd noted here and there was enough to make him feel like an ass for doing too much with Dana when she was close enough to see it anyway, even if none of this was his fault.
And none of this stopped him from looking over at Dana, a little longingly. Without the relationship stuff making this complicated, Dana was his big sister... the one who'd stuck by him and hell, practically raised him more often than not. Dana was the closest thing to home and comfort he had right now and he couldn't even say it. "You should get some rest. Bet you're tired... I'll wake you up when Jo gets back with the food."

But that seemed unlikely to happen. Sam didn't want to talk about it, so Dana wouldn't talk about it. Wouldn't have the chance to try to explain what happened, though not really defend herself...she knew what she did. But there was the guilt and the fear and maybe if he knew...if he knew how she really fucking felt, things could-- She was just fooling herself though. What she did was horrible and probably unforgivable so she couldn't really blame him.
It was sad, that she missed him and he was in the room with her.
Missing his look because her eyes had slipped closed, Dana sighed quietly and nodded very slightly. There were a lot of things neither of them ever said aloud. "Right..." She'd try to rest at least, it was hard though. Sam and her had been sharing a bed for a good few months now, the sudden separation was jolting for her.

She ducks into the grocery store, being two doors down from Great Clips. Time to stock up on supplies. Maybe some ice cream. Yeah. Lots of ice cream.

He'd be able to hear Jo pulling up, he figured.

Awake they may not talk anymore or be near, but like this...this was what she needed.

He blinked blearily. "Dana, hey... think Jo's here."

Maybe not allowing the doctors to see what's wrong with her head was a bad idea...
Finally, mostly because she doesn't want to return with their food cold, she hesitantly moves to open the unlocked door between the rooms, and takes a step through, looking over at them, on the bed.
"I got Steak 'N Shake. And pie," she says, voice flat, as she sets the food and plastic silverware down, and turns to leave again.

He moved to grab out Dana's food and put it over in the little microwave they included in the room. "Don't think she's in the mood to wake up yet."
no subject
Though...the smell of food would get to her eventually.
Their talking had her shifting over in bed, curling the covers up around her tighter as the pain from moving showed on her face and she settled once more.

She moves back to her room, and sits on her bed, cross legged, and watches him. "I just gotta little sick, so, I don't really wanna...push my luck right now," she answers softly.
no subject
It's been a few days since... he thought the nausea would have passed by now. "Anything else?"
no subject
She was just grateful for the small amount of time she had actually been somewhat comfortable sleeping. Though, with Sam out of the bed now, the uncomfortableness was settling back in once more.

Jo sighs softly, and rests her cheek against her knee. "Yeah, still," she says, not mentioning she's more than half done with the medicine that should be lasting a lot longer. "The headaches haven't quit yet."
And she doesn't dare mention the nose bleed she got while driving last night.
no subject
"Hey..." He moved to sit next to her on the bed, slowly, one hand reaching out to place on her shoulder, hoping it was a little bit comforting. "It's been a hard trip... but we're somewhere safe for now to recuperate a little. So just try to focus on resting, alright?"
She probably really should still be in the hospital though, from the sounds of it.
