on the run. [[livejournal.com profile] siswinchester & <user site="livejournal.com" user=

It took a few days to convince the hospital to release Dana... and Sam was half-convinced they just did it because she was being a pain in the ass. He couldn't blame them since she never took to being sick or injured well. They hit the road almost immediately after getting the prescriptions filled for some pain meds. He hated that Dana would basically have to suffer through the car drive until they were far enough away and safe to stop for awhile.

They pushed on and made it to some small little town though, far away from Palo Alto, Stanford, and hopefully any demons trailing them. Man, he did not miss the nasty, likely roach infested motels they used to stay in and like the one he was pulling into park at now.

Now they had to decide just... what they'd do for sleeping arrangements, he supposed. Jo had been pretty adament about not sharing a room, but it was safer if they did.

Jo's shopping cart ends up a lot more full of snacks and stuff that will just add more weight to her ass than anything else. She's almost done, in the bakery picking up a dozen donuts, as she spots pie. She shifts her weight, and bites her lip. In the end she puts a pie in her cart, and moves to check out, picking up The Notebook out of a five dollar bin, and rests her head on her hand.

Dana can't exactly sleep on her side, considering, so she doesn't curl into him like her body wants to when she feels the familiar dip of the bed at his weight. The restless shifting ceases though when his hand slips into her own and her fingers link with his own easily as she lets out a sigh of breath. Something as simple as him holding her hand calms her down.

Jo loads the groceries into the pickup, and climbs in, still moving slowly, before heading to Steak 'N Shake to pick up food for Dana and Sam. She mulls over getting food for herself...and then orders more food than she'd be able to eat for herself. Fuck it. Fuck her figure, and the shape she's maintained for years. Fuck it all.

Sleeping now more peacefully than before, the almost whimpering noises stop and she scoots into his side some more as well, head lolling down to lay atop of his.

Awake they may not talk anymore or be near, but like this...this was what she needed.

Jo pulls up and parks the truck a little ways down the way from the room, grabbing up the bags in her arms and gets out of the truck, walking to her room. God, how depressing. She's stuck by herself, like she's been since they started driving. It's lonely.

[identity profile] siswinchester.livejournal.com 2012-03-25 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Dana grumbled slightly at the sound of Sam's voice, fingers tightening a moment where their hands were still linked, but she didn't wake, her sleep far too deep at this point. She had never slept so heavily in her life, but she was going to assume it was the meds.

Jo settles everything in her room; it takes her a couple very slow trips, and she does manage to vomit on the sidewalk at least once as she carries everything in.

Maybe not allowing the doctors to see what's wrong with her head was a bad idea...

Finally, mostly because she doesn't want to return with their food cold, she hesitantly moves to open the unlocked door between the rooms, and takes a step through, looking over at them, on the bed.

"I got Steak 'N Shake. And pie," she says, voice flat, as she sets the food and plastic silverware down, and turns to leave again.

Nope. Dana really wasn't.

Though...the smell of food would get to her eventually.

Their talking had her shifting over in bed, curling the covers up around her tighter as the pain from moving showed on her face and she settled once more.

[identity profile] straightfromthe.livejournal.com 2012-03-25 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Jo glances to the bed, before gesturing that he should come to her room if he wants to talk, so they won't disturb Dana. Because the last thing they need is Dana bitching about something.

She moves back to her room, and sits on her bed, cross legged, and watches him. "I just gotta little sick, so, I don't really wanna...push my luck right now," she answers softly.

[identity profile] siswinchester.livejournal.com 2012-03-25 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Bitching? Her? Please.

She was just grateful for the small amount of time she had actually been somewhat comfortable sleeping. Though, with Sam out of the bed now, the uncomfortableness was settling back in once more.

Right. Yes, she never does that.

Jo sighs softly, and rests her cheek against her knee. "Yeah, still," she says, not mentioning she's more than half done with the medicine that should be lasting a lot longer. "The headaches haven't quit yet."

And she doesn't dare mention the nose bleed she got while driving last night.

The narration is cute guys, Dana greatly appreciates it. Truly.

[identity profile] straightfromthe.livejournal.com 2012-03-25 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course she appreciates it. She always appreciates everything that's done with her with a grace previously unseen by the likes of them. She's practically a saint.

The heat of his hand on her shoulder, makes her look over at him. "Restin'...yeah. Got some ice cream and some shitty chick flick to watch...but...I don't really...," she sighs softly. "I ain't used ta...bein' close ta people and still...far. I'm useta either bein' on my own completely, or...'round the Roadhouse. This...I dunno howta....do this. And I know I can't leave ya two." Even if she thinks Dana'd feel less guilty if she did leave.

Since...being in the hospital Dana had been having a lot of interesting dreams. Or rather, dreams she didn't really enjoy.

Some of them had Jo in it. Those ones were always bad. Jo either hated her, Jo was angry at her, Jo cried. Jo left and Dana never saw her again.

Then there the ones with Sam. Those could either be good or very bad. Though the good ones always left a dull ache in her chest when she woke up and realized that nothing between them had been resolved.

There was one dream that liked to repeat though. It had both Jo and Sam. And she stood between them and watched as they each turned their back on her and walked away.

Dana's decided she fucking hates dreaming.

Jo's eyes swing over to him, as she sighs softly. "I'm tryin', Sam, but you don't know what it's like..." she murmurs. "I feel like shit, and I feel...like there's no hope."

She sighs and does something she used to do as a kid, and leans against him. "I think...that'd be nice...ta...do that." It's not like she's really into them either. She was just thinking about getting drunk, eating too much, crying and puking. Not necessarily in that order.

[identity profile] siswinchester.livejournal.com 2012-03-26 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not long before Dana's eyes are snapping open and she's sort of...gasping for air. Looking around the room, to make sure really that no one has seen that, her brows furrow the slightest when she finds she's alone. It's eerie. Considering what she just woke up from.

But she just shakes that feeling and drops her head back against the pillow heavily, staring up at the ceiling for a moment.

"I'll get over it, I guess," she says, even if she knows that it's going to be harder than just willing it to be say. She's worshiped the grown Dana's walked on since she was young, and has loved the girl since she was old enough to figure out what that emotion was when it happened outside loving your parents.

She chuckles, and smiles up at him a little. "Surprised ya didn't opt for the booze first. Sure, I'll share. But eat your damn hot food first."
